Carol Felixson joined the RCDSMM
as a board member in January 2007.
Professionally, she serves as Director
of Education and Outreach for UCLA’s
biological field station, the Stunt
Ranch Santa Monica Mountains Reserve
and as docent and communications
coordinator for the UCLA Botanical
Garden. Before coming to UCLA, Carol was manager of the Malibu Fire Recovery Center, operated by the California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services following the 1993 Malibu/Topanga firestorm.
A Los Angeles native, Carol received her B.A. in social work from the University of Wisconsin and completed a program in public relations from UCLA Extension. She is a member of the Society for Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators and wrote ‘Drawing from Nature,’ a series of science and art lessons that appeared in the Los Angeles Times Kids Page. Carol lives with her husband Bernardo and their one-eyed cat, Othello. She enjoys spending time with her sizeable Los Angeles-based family and friend group, especially with her two sons, Andrew and Jeffrey, Andrew’s wife Rebecca and their daughter Marley, and her step-son Ariel. Favorite activities include walking in the mountains and by the sea, yoga, swimming, movies and concerts, reading, and travel to locales nearby and abroad.
