The Education Department runs a nine-week training program for adults interested in outdoor education. The program is designed to prepare new recruits to teach basic concepts in environmental science, and to enrich the knowledge of regular staff.
The training breaks down into two parts. The first part is a series of weekly events from mid-September to mid-November. These are scheduled on Tuesdays and take place at various locations in the region of the Santa Monica Mountains.
You can view the 2016 education program here: training-prgm-2016
The second part consists of student program observations and co-leads. A prior background in environmental studies is recommended, but people with other experience make excellent outdoor educators as well.
If you have a genuine interest in ecology and like working with young people; if you enjoy being outside interpreting nature and wish to be part of a community of life-long learners, think about joining us in the fall.
